Chris Barrett from the Heritage in Schools Programme visited our class last Thursday. He told us all about his adventures on an expedition that he had won. He showed us a photograph he had taken of a polar bear. We learned that polar bears have black skin and transparent fur. Their fur scatters light, creating the illusion that it is white. Their black skin helps them absorb heat and stay warm in the Arctic.

4th Class travelled to the Cement Factory this morning. What an amazing experience! We started in the conference room where we learned how cement is made and we also looked at the safety procedures needed around the plant. Small boxes of rock pieces were passed around and we had an opportunity to see some limestone which we studied in our Geography lesson. Aiden had a close call with the box of the raw meal!!!!!!
