Ms O Riordan was so proud of the choir who sang beautifully at the Ballyneety Christmas market on Sunday 30th November ! They helped create a lovely festive atmosphere as people walked in to do some Christmas shopping. The rain did not dampen their spirits and they sang their hearts out! Thank you to Ms Murphy for playing the violin with us. And thank you to all the parents for coming too. It is greatly appreciated!
This week we learned about the three main groups of worms and went on a worm hunt around our school grounds to see what we could find. We collected some for our wormery, which now has 28 wriggly worms! It’s been fascinating to watch our slimy friends in action as they burrow, improve drainage, and enrich the soil with their nutrient-packed casts.
We really enjoyed our yoga session today as part of Health Promotion Week! Some of us found the balance easier than others, but everyone gave it a great try. A great way to relax, stretch, and refocus our minds and bodies.
This week we celebrated Maths Week ! We used our maths eyes to spot angles, lines and shapes all around us. We took part in a fun Zoom quiz and enjoyed a maths trail. Thank you to 4th class for coming in every day to test our knowledge on some tricky sums.
This week we compared triangular prisms and pyramids. We noticed we needed 9 toothpicks (edges) and 6 marshmallows ( vertices) for the triangular prism. The triangular pyramid only needed 6 edges and 4 vertices.
Today our class became scientists! We extracted DNA from bananas and had the opportunity to learn from three visiting scientists from UL who guided us through the process. A big thank you to them for such an exciting and educational experience .
Junior infants really enjoyed their time budddy reading with 3rd class today after Singalong Friday in the gym! We cant wait to do this again next month!

Here are some snaps of us getting ready for the big Cross Country in October. We're super excited that 3 boys and 3 girls will be proudly representing 3rd class on race day. This week's challenge was to keep running for 6 minutes without stopping and wow everyone gave it their all . Big cheer for effort and determination !!
