The boys and girls brought in some very interesting items to show the class. They spoke so well about their items and then had some fun playing with each other afterwards.
Geoff Hunt paid us a visit recently and brought us outside on a tree hunt. We found a maple tree, elder tree, cherry blossom and hawthorn tree in our school. We picked the leaves and identified the teeth, simple lobes and compound lobes. We had so much fun and before Geoff left he asked us to join him in reciting a poem 'Little Leaves'!!!
Senior Infants took part in the incredible edibles project where they were given seeds, plants and bulbs to plant and watch them grow over the coming weeks. The boys and girls didn't mind getting their fingers dirty!!! They planted strawberries, radishes and pole beans.
The boys and girls enjoyed an Easter egg hunt today finding the printed eggs hidden in the yard . Once they had found all the egg halves the challenge was to make the patterned eggs while showing good team work and co-operation. On completion they were treated to a chocolate bunny lolly.

Bhaineamar an taitneamh as bheith ar Raidio Cnoc Cae ar maidin. Bhíomar ag caint, ag comhrá agus ag canadh. Comhgairdeas gach duine!!!!Tá mé an bródúil astu!
Senior Infants had a great World Book Day. They wore beautiful costumes to school, and did buddy reading with their friends in 4th Class. They also made two reading forts and spent time enjoying their books with the extra added bonus of using some torches!! There was excellent team work shown when building the forts demonstrating great understanding of shape and space and their creativity in STEM work.

Happy Birthday from all your friends in Senior Infants!
This week we were learning about 3 D shapes such as a sphere, cylinder, cube and cuboid. On Friday we made our own playdough 3D shapes and tested them out to see if they could roll or stack on top of each other! We also used our Maths eyes to find real examples of these shapes at home and at school. Some of the examples we found were a globe, pringles box, football, dice, toilet roll, water bottle, cereal box , tin of beans.
Senior Infants really enjoyed the cozy afternoon last Friday snuggled up in their blankets with their teddies while watching a movie. What more could you want !
