World Book Day is being celebrated on Thursday 6th March this year.

This year, we are slightly moving our focus to put even more emphasis on reading and celebrating books. In previous years we have celebrated by asking all the pupils to dress up as a character from their favourite book. We will still do this next week but this year, it is optional.  We would love to see the children that are interested dressing up going ahead  with their ideas but if it is something they don't want to do, they don't have to. We are encouraging the children to be brave and to choose for themselves whether or not they want to dress up.

Just to note that if children are deciding not to dress up, it isn't a non- uniform day, they will be expected to be in their school uniform/tracksuit.

On the day itself, we are asking all children to pick a book from home or from the class libraries here and this will be used for activities based around reading and books in all the classrooms. We will be doing buddy reading on the day, where a senior class will buddy up with a junior class to look at, to read and to talk about the books they have brought in.

We are really looking forward to the day and our hope is that all children, of all abilities can enjoy a day of celebrating books and reading!
