Active Tammy

Every week the Active Tammy teddy goes home with one of the Junior infant children and they take her on exciting adventures over the weekend. Tammy has been to the playground, matches, beach, parks etc. and always has a great time!

Feel Good Fridays

Feel Good Fridays

Every Friday over the intercom, 2 members of the Active Flag committee do a Feel Good Friday activity. This could be drop everything and dance, joke time while joggin on the spot, some gross motor activities i.e. jumping jack, squats etc. This is a nice break in the day for children and you can hear the excitement around the school when it comes on.

Partnerships: Golf Lessons

Golf lessons were provided for the senior classes. This was the first time playing golf for a lot of the children and they really enjoyed it.

Team Teaching (Seniors and 6th)

We did this for 6 weeks and both classes loved it. 6th class were divided up into pairs and each pair had to come up with their own activity. 6th class loved the idea of having ownership over this and being able to teach the younger kids.

6th Class Maths Relay

6th Class Maths Relay

6th class students recently took their maths lesson into the playground. They joined to make teams and partook in a "Maths Relay" which mixed problem solving with PE. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves! They raced to compete five addition and subtraction word problems which was a lot more challenging than they expected!

Active Stations

During the year we set up active stations. Ms. Kirby divided us into groups and each group had to come up with an ativity for our station. We were allowed to use the equipment in the store room. It was great fun coming up with the various games. We did the active stations with 1st class and they really enjoyed the activities we set up for them.

Dodgeball match 6th class v staff

In the last week of school, we had a dodgeball match v the staff. This was a hard fought contest with the staff winning the first round. We were under pressure but managed to win the next two rounds to win the match. There was great celebration at the end as we were the first class to beat the staff in dodgeball.

Active Walkway

In Term 3 I set up an Active Walkway around the school. This involved ten stations where the children and staff had to do a physical activity at each station i.e. jumping jacks. There was also a riddle that children had to figure out at each station. Everyone really enjoyed it and we will do it again next year.
